Corrosion can be combated in many ways. In each case, the most appropriate corrosion protection method depends on the specific environment, application areas and lifecycle requirements.
Inhibitors are often used in cooling systems, pipelines and as a component in rust-proofing coatings to reduce the rate of corrosion. Inhibitors often work by adsorbing themselves on the metallic surface, protecting the metallic surface by forming a film.
Considerable resources are now being invested in the development of new, environmentally friendly inhibitors, since many conventional inhibitors are environmentally hazardous.
Swerim has considerable knowledge of various types of inhibitors. We have developed a method which can be used to determine whether a system is inhibited or not and, e.g. determine the necessary inhibitor content, and maximum chloride content, to ensure that the system remains inhibited.
We also provide both practical and theoretical independent corrosion assessment of systems.
