Congratulations, Maria Lundgren!

Swerim congratulates one of our women research engineers, who is nominated to this year's "40 over 40 List", as well as other participants including "Fe of the Year" – Jenny Gotthardsson, area manager for Boliden Garpenberg.

With her curiosity and thoroughness, Maria Lundgren, senior research engineer at Swerim, is not only an ideal role model for anyone choosing a career at Swerim, but also for women in the steel industry as a whole. Among other topics, Maria's research has to do with sustainable solutions and replacing fossil carbon in the steel industry with renewable biomaterials.

The 40 over 40 List was established as a way of acknowledging and recognising the knowledge, experience and contributions of women over 40 in the mining and steel industries. The 40 include a broad range of representatives from industry, research, academia and politics.

The distinction is awarded to a woman in the mining and steel industries who, during her career, has made particularly noteworthy contributions within, or to, these industries. In the periodic table Fe is the symbol for the chemical element iron. Behind the award bearing the same name are the Swedish Association of Industrial Employers, industry organisations Jernkontoret and Svemin, as well as the networks Metallkvinnor and Women in Mining Sweden.
