HyCoat webinar
What is HyCoat project?
Swerim is coordinating the HyCoat feasibility study project financed through the Impact Innovation programme. The HyCoat acronym stands for “Hydrogen Embrittlement and Corrosion Resistant Coatings for Ultra High Strength Automotive Steels”.
The aim of this project is to develop and design new coatings based on binary aluminium alloys and compare them with electrogalvanized (EG) coatings. Partners in this proposal are SSAB as supplier of ultra-high strength steels for automotive applications and the research institutes Swerim and RISE with expertise in HE, and corrosion exposure tests for automotive manufacturers. This project studies the possibility of using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) as alternative deposition method with goal to achieve mitigation of the hydrogen embrittlement risk and maintaining good corrosion protection of the UHSS.
What is the aim of the webinar?
The aim of the webinar is to disseminate exclusively the obtain results of the project and attract the industry to take participation in the consortium for the follow up full scale proposal to Impact Innovation call. See the call here >
