The metals research institute Swerim, stands out as a global leader in transforming raw metals into final products. For SymbioSteel, the Metallurgy department takes the helm. The department has led several nationally funded industrial symbiosis projects, for instance, OSMET project funded by Swedish Innovation Agence, which integrates the steel sector with the pulp & paper and mining industries; and a few EU Horizon projects, like INITIATE and FReSMe, upgrading gases from steel plants for diverse industrial applications.
