ESTEP 2025

ESTEP 2025

We were pleased to participate in the European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP) Annual Event 2025 in Udine, Italy.

The event focused on the development of decarbonization, digitization, industrial symbiosis, and circular solutions, and on how these areas shape a sustainable future for the European steel industry.

During the event, we gained valuable insights into these topics and engaged in meaningful discussions with industry peers. We also presented our SymbioSteel project in our conversations and distributed flyers highlighting the project’s focus areas, activities, and expected outcomes.

In addition, we conducted interviews with experts on industrial symbiosis. Stay tuned for the upcoming release of these interviews!

Symbiosteel project meeting

SymbioSteel Online Project Meeting

We were pleased to hold an online SymbioSteel project meeting with our partners via Teams on Oct 15th, 2025.

It was a productive and engaging session, during which we reviewed the progress and achievements from the first year, evaluated key results and challenges, and planned the activities for the second year of the project.

Together, we continue to advance Industrial Symbiosis solutions through our dissemination Project efforts.

ESTAD

SymbioSteel presented in “Circular Economy & Industrial Symbiosis” session at ESTAD 2025

We were delighted to participate in ESTAD2025, held in Verona, Italy.

Prof. Valentina Colla delivered the presentation “Recent achievements of Industrial Symbiosis in the steel sector based on the Symbio-Steel project”, in the session on Circular Economy and Industrial Symbiosis.

SymbioSteel is an EU RFCS project dedicated to advancing and disseminating research on industrial symbiosis within the steel industry.

We sincerely appreciate the fruitful discussions and valuable exchanges during this session and throughout the entire ESTAD 2025.

Workshop SymBioSteel

Workshop on slag, circular economy and industrial symbiosis in the steel industry

The session on industrial symbiosis was held on March 6, 2025, at the workshop on the role of slags and other byproducts within circular economy in the steel industry organized in Duisburg by The European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP) and FEhS - Building Materials Institute, where our RFCS project SymbioSteel was presented and discussed. It was a great event with many interesting presentations and discussions, which provided us with valuable support for our upcoming SymbioSteel project work. We are very pleased to have participated in this session and in the workshop.
