Swerim covers and optimizes the entire value chain, from raw materials to finished products. Our four business areas, each addressing different aspects of the value chain, are: Metallurgy, Material Development, Production Technology, and Pilot and Demo. All are driven by strong cutting-edge research and supported by custom experimental equipment and pilot halls.
Through close cooperation with the industry via our three program councils with industry representatives, we ensure the focus of our operations and continuously improve technologies and processes to meet the future challenges of the industry.
- Metallurgy – Encompasses the science and technology of metallic materials. This area explores everything from the extraction and treatment of metals to the development of new alloys and production processes that enhance material performance.
- Material Development – Focuses on the research and development of new materials that meet specific requirements for strength, durability, weight, and other properties.
- Production Technology – Focuses on improving and streamlining manufacturing processes. This can include the development of new production methods, automation, and optimization of manufacturing flows.
- Pilot and Demo – This business area is about scaling up laboratory-developed processes and materials to pilot and demonstration projects. It is a critical step to transfer research findings to real industrial applications, where new technologies are tested and evaluated on a larger scale.
