Dr Elsayed Mousa, a native of Boden and Senior Researcher in the Metallurgy business area at the metal research institute Swerim, has been included in this year’s prestigious list of the world’s top 2% most cited researchers. The list is compiled by Elsevier in collaboration with Stanford University.

He is recognised both in the category for single-year citations in 2025 and for career-long scientific impact in the subject area of Engineering, with a focus on Mining and Metallurgy.

Elsayed Mousa is internationally acknowledged as a leading expert in ironmaking and metallurgical processes. His expertise covers iron ore reduction, agglomeration, and recycling – fields in which he has made significant research contributions.

At Swerim, Elsayed Mousa leads innovative research and development initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving resource efficiency in steel and ferroalloy production.
