Cobalt is a necessary but problematic metal – expensive, toxic, rare, and often mined under unethical conditions. In the SitCoM project, Swerim and its industrial partners have taken a major step towards replacing cobalt in cutting tools used for industrial gear manufacturing.

The project Hydrogen and circularity in Västerbotten County (Home) focuses on strengthening the green transition in Västerbotten's metal industry through innovation in hydrogen use, increased circularity, and bio-based materials. The work is divided into three parts with different focus areas, and several regional actors are involved in the collaboration.

Dr Elsayed Mousa, a native of Boden and Senior Researcher in the Metallurgy business area at the metal research institute Swerim, has been included in this year’s prestigious list of the world’s top 2% most cited researchers. The list is compiled by Elsevier in collaboration with Stanford University.
