Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a laser-based technique that enable contactless chemical analysis with no need for sample preparation. As such it is a highly useful technique for online-monitoring. In the CONSENSO-project equipment is developed that enables analysis of molten metal and slag.
The picture shows initial trials at Sandvik AOD converter. New equipment has now been developed that is more robust and is better adopted to the operational environment.
