Laser detects cracks in steel

Cracks in steel are normally detected late during casting and the defective steel must then be either scrapped or repaired.

Swerim and SSAB have studied the cause of increased dusting during 2013, as compared to previous years.

Researchers at Swerim develop world-unique Swedish standard for measuring argon

Microscopic bubbles can cause gigantic problems. At least if the bubbles consist of the noble gas argon and have been trapped in pressed metal parts.

FOCS saves energy and improves productivity

Swerim has developed the furnace control system FOCS, which helps industry to boost productivity and drastically reduce energy use.
